Smoked red vinyl 12'' 33 rpm. Limited edition of 150 copies.

Alto and soprano saxophonist Paolo Recchia, for the fifth release signed by the newly formed label Birdbox Records, presents himself with a quartet of top-level musicians now recognized by the jazz press and audience: pianist Luca Mannutza, double bass player Giuseppe Romagnoli and drummer Nicola Angelucci.

“Imaginary place” welcomes the listener into an imaginary place, a creative space where the musical ideas of the group members intertwine, giving life to a new common ground, combining traditional jazz with contemporary elements in a personal synthesis. It is a generous live album, with a deep desire for mutual respect and shared love for this music at its heart.

The work is composed of original material and standards of the jazz tradition. Some of these compositions belong to musicians who have had a direct influence on Paolo Recchia's playing and are a source of inspiration in terms of harmony, melody and rhythm.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to my wife Arianna for being by my side in the realization of this work, to the incredible generosity and art of the musicians who accompanied me in this project, to the beautiful audio and video work of the director and sound engineer Lorenzo Vella of Birdbox Records.

"Captured in the warm soul of analog and preserved in the sharpness of digital. This album is a unique sensory journey, where the authenticity of analog sound meets the precision of 192 kHz/24-bit recording, thanks to the Metric Halo ULN8 3D converter. The final touch, entirely analog, with a suite of excellent tube outboards, gives this record unparalleled depth and emotion."
