Francesco Mascio - My Standards •CD•
CD Numbered Edition
About ten years after his first record release "Europa Jazz Quartet" and after eight discs characterised by the use of the most disparate stylistic ingredients, Francesco Mascio returns to his roots with a new work inspired by the jazz tradition: "My Standards".
As the album's title suggests, it is a production entirely composed of original tracks, eight of which are the result of writing work that has matured over the years, while the compositions 'Esharef's Moment' and 'Soul of New York' are the result of an ensemble experiment based on the concept of radical improvisation.
Although the album's theme is strongly jazz-centred, Mascio does not fail to express a distinct multi-facetedness, which he manifests through his skilful use of numerous style influences (Latin, world, soul, free, classical and more) and his peculiar crossover jazz tuned at 432 Hertz.
Concluding the disc is a solo classical guitar composition 'Notes from the heart', from which Mascio lets loose a dense emotional component, already strongly marked in his entire work.
